Breaking the Famous Myths about LED Grow Lights

LED grow lights are often associated with negative myths because many people do not consider them a powerful option when looking to achieve higher yields. LEDs also have a much longer lifespan when compared with rival technologies.

 

You need to understand that as a commercial grower, you require a long term solution on which you can depend completely season after season. When compared with the higher energy costs of the other systems, the installation of LED lights provides a much better return on investment. The system has a great life of at least 50,000 working hours, which is greater than other available systems of comparison.

LED grow lights also require smaller support systems because they do not produce as much heat as produced by some other systems. They are reliable, accurate and function effectively in all horticultural applications.

 

Myth 5: Shorter Lifespan

 

Many people argue that manufacturers often mention the wrong lifespan for their LED products and LEDs often fail before reaching that time. They argue that people do not understand how LED lights can fail when the temperature is not managed properly and therefore degrade in performance in a quicker fashion when compared with other available choices.

This myth, however, is totally wrong and baseless. LED grow lights at least have a lifespan of 50,000 working hours and good quality products are often rated to fail at 100,000 hours of use. Myth 6: LED Grow Lights are Hard to Maintain

The argument, in fact, is true because these people buy LED lights from cheap vendors that do not sell the right supporting systems for LEDs.

LED grow lights actually have a very long life. The supporting units for these lights, therefore, have to be at least as sturdy as these lights. High-quality manufacturers, therefore, provide heat extraction systems that can also last around 100,000 hours of use because good LED grow lights can often survive this long and require support.

These are a few of the common myths around LED lights used in horticulture. Most of them are based on rumors and rely on the information available from poor quality manufacturers.
